Why do nerds love her? Playboy Playmate (FEB1990), Baywatch, Barb Wire, V.I.P.
Nerd, or just loved by nerds? Both... probably.

It is easy to forget Pamela Anderson's contributions to geekdom. Her celebrity and glamour profiles typically outshine her actual career. The mainstream popularity of Baywatch also keeps it out of true nerd-show status. However...
One of the great comicbook movies of the 1990s was a little film called Barb Wire (like Lord Voldemort, great. Terrible, yes... but great). This had all the elements necessary for a great nerd movie. Guns and explosions, yes, but also; cheesey science, cheesey villains, a post-apocalyptic wasteland, a bountyhunter with ample cleavage, terrible one-liners, Pam stripping and later in a bubblebath with a gun, and lastly the necessary element... a foreign-born leading man with a questionable grasp of the english language. It was funy, exciting, and just dirty enough.
Next, we have V.I.P. This show revolved around a team of bodyguards working for Anderson. There was lots of tech, lots of action, and a high jiggle factor. The show gave us a bit of a break from the sword-and-sandal deluge of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, Xena: Warrior Princess, and the short lived Conan the Adventurer. (Not knocking any of those, BTW)
Last, Stripperella. This was an animated series by Stan Lee which aired on Spike TV. This show went after every cliché in comics. Superheroes, espionage, super-science. It was not, however pure fan service.
Two reasons I am a big fan. Pam is very self-effacing. She knows she is not going to win any Oscars or Emmys. She tries to do shows that are fun and entertaining. The second one goes a bit with the first. Pam works with PETA and for animal rights. She uses her celebrity to raise money and awareness for things she believes in. She knows people want to see her naked, or at least near-naked, and if that will get you to give to PETA, stop wearing fur, or stop going to KFC, then she's there.
