Who is it? Yvonne Craig
Why do nerds love her? Barbara Gordon/Batgirl on the 1960s Batman TV show, and Marta, an Orion Slave Girl on the ST:TOS episode "Whom Gods Destroy"
Nerd, or just loved by nerds? Hard to tell. She's clever enough to be a nerd.

Yvonne Craig is one of the great nerd girls of all time, if for no other reason than her portrayal of two nerd icons. As Batgirl in the 1960s TV show Batman, she added greatly to the cast and certainly made the show more interesting to those of us interested in girls. As Marta in "Whom Gods Destroy" she became possibly the most iconic encountered alien of ST:TOS. Even non-Trekkies joke about Captain Kirk sleeping with the "green alien chick." While Kirk and Marta did not interface in such a manner, Marta was that green alien chick.

Aside from these two roles, Ms Craig has stuck with the sci-fi community. On television she appeared in Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea (1964), The Man From U.N.C.L.E. (1965), The Wild Wild West (1966), The Mod Squad (1968), The Land of the Giants (1970), and The Six Million Dollar Man (1977). Her film and television career spanned from 1954 to 1979, then an appearance in Fantasy Island in 1983 and in the film Diggin' Up Business in 1990. She has appeared in some of television's most beloved shows, including Perry Mason, Death Valley Days, The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis, Dr. Kildaire, McHale's Navy, The Big Valley... The list is quite long. Lets not forget the Elvis Film, Kissin' Cousins (1964).

Yvonne had quit doing conventions, but did make several Batman’s Fortieth Reunion appearances. On her site she says, "If [...] I still have my own teeth and hair when the Fiftieth Batman Reunion rolls around – I’ll be there."
