As the inaugural entry in Fiction's Finest Nerds!, I did not have a second thought: Velma Dinkley!Velma was not the only smart one on the various incarnations of Scooby-Doo cartoons, but she was definitely the smartest. Some of us found Velma very sexy. More of us found her sexy once they chose Linda Cardellini to play her in the movies (pictured). It was, however, her brains that made her great. Velma always interpreted clues best, and was typically successful, despite being continually saddled with dumb-asses Scooby and Shaggy.
Three cheers for Velma Dinkley! Our first of Fiction's Finest Nerds!

Linda Cardellini was, hands down, the sexiest iteration of Velma Dinkley. In fact, I think she's the only one, but hey...I still get butterflies in my stomach when I watch her on ER.
My wife was Velma for Halloween one year, so in my book LC is #2. That leather outfit in Scooby-Doo 2... Zoinks! |-D
Yeah, Linda Cardellini will always own a small piece of my heart, mostly because I first saw her on the greatest TV show ever created, Freaks & Geeks (which, now that I think about it, may deserve a full post over at Geek Orthodox. Hmmm...)
Let's keep in mind, though, that we shouldn't mix up the actors and the characters they play. We're talking about the nerdy fictional character, Velma, here. Not all actors portray old-school cartoon characters very well. For example, I always thought Daphne was the hottie in the Mystery Gang, but then Sarah Michelle Gellar ruined it for me.
I used the pic of LC as I could not find a drawn Velma I liked (well, there were a few perverted ones I liked, but thought I'd keep it clean!).
I always thought Daphne was pretty hot, but you know Velma is hiding some puppies under that sweater ;-)
Damn Reis! I love SMG AND Linda...they are both super hotties. Linda is an underrated actress ...but def. check her out in Grandmas Boy - holy crap.
I like SMG as well. I just watched Cruel Intentions, after Yum-Yum reviewed it at House of Self-Indelgence (here). As far as it went, though... Selma Blair's legs [drool] made the movie!
