Nerd Girl of Note #132: Kat Dennings

There was a time when I did not know who Kat Dennings was, then against better judgement perhaps, I watched The Forty Year-Old Virgin. Two positives from that experience. First, I discovered I liked the movie for the most part. Second, I found out who Kat was. In truth though, her video blogging sealed the deal, particularly the one below. How could anyone who made this not be completely awesome? Go a head and watch it. I'll wait.

So, once in a while I will joke on this blog about my attempts to contact Kat via Twitter. It was really only once, and I decided to make a joke out of it. It came up a few more times, perplexing even long time readers.

Anyway, my review on 2 Broke Girls got me to thinking about the above video, which led me to the realization that I had not included one of my favorite celebs in this column. So, Kat, if you're reading this, love ya and hope I am completely wrong about the show.

Yup--I'm totally into her too. Didn't know about the vlogs. Thanx for the heads up.

Is today Kat Dennings day and I was not told. You are the third tribute to her that I have read today. Guess I have to post about her too. She is terrific. It's too bad her new show is unwatchable and totally wastes her talent.

@Rev - Her vids are pretty funny, but not sure she has done any recently.

@Kal - That is weird. I really, really want to like 2 Broke Girls, but there is just nothing all that fantastic about it. Maybe I'll give it a second look? First episodes are always wonky.

The whole format is wrong for her, the sets feel claustrophobic and everything is overwritten with little improv.

On the contrary, have you watched THAT GIRL with Zoey Dechanel? Now that is the show I want Kat to become a regular character on. She could play Zoey's best friend since Elementary School who is EXACTLY like Zoey's character. TWICE the wackiness.

I need to check out That Girl. I loved Zooey when she was on Bones. Delightfully quirky.
