Frankly, I am a little bit bothered that I had yet to include the awesome Lina Romay in this column. I am not one for eulogies, but her death last week drove the point home.
For the uninitiated, Romay was the long time wife, muse, and leading lady for cinema auteur Jess Franco. She began her work with Franco in 1972's
La maldición de Frankenstein, and did nearly 100 films for Uncle Jess. There were horrors, comedies, women in prison, and the occasional pornographic film.
Obviously, I have not seen all of her films, but a fair chunk of them. Probably the best is
Ilsa: the Wicked Warden as far as acting and story goes, and the easily available
The Female Vampire (aka
The Bare Breasted Countess) and
Macumba Sexual. The latter two are a bit inexplicable, but interesting. There is also another of Franco's WIP efforts,
Women Behind Bars.
So, I will miss you, Lina, as I am sure many others will. She was a decent actress, considering the roles, and a good looking woman with a healthy body image.

I want to bugger Lina Romay (as the bird was in 1972 when the bird was 18, not as the bird is now obviously, which is dead).
I love Lina Romay in nearly every movie she did. I miss her.
She was very awesome. I was surprised she died. Almost as much as the idea of Franco outliving her.
I would like to see more of this young woman.
Hi, I think you were following my Necrotic Cinema blog. or at elast I seem to following yours :) I had to change the URL for a a couple reasons. Things will improve for me but the drawback is I lost all my followers. If you like the site can you refollow me at:

Thanks

I certainly was :-) Following the new URL now. At least I thought I was? I am a lousy blog reader these days.
The Lina Romay picture you're not sure about is from Jack the Ripper and the one you list being from Female Vampire is actually from Lorna The Exorcist. :)
What would I do without your excellent guidance? :-) I do need to get Lorna soon.
