PGR: Montowers (Buffstone, 2012)

I don't mind admitting to having waited long for this title. Also, I will admit that sexy monsters was a big part of that draw. On that count, Montowers does not fall [ahem] flat, but is also a very enjoyable game all-round.

The premise is pretty simple. You are a summoner who collects monsters, a la Pokémon, which you use to battle/collect other monsters. You go through a series of towers trying to reach the top. You have to collect elemental gems as well, which are used to power your summonings. Once you have a monster, it has three levels you can progress it through via either tokens or elemental gems.

Reviews so far are generally positive. A few one-star reviews on iTunes talked about how overly sexy the game was despite the 17+ age rating and two iTunes warnings about boobies. There is no nudity, but tons of cheesecake. The higher level your sexier monsters get, the closer to naked they become as well, as below:

My only real complaint is that occasionally the game crashes. While annoying, the fix seems to be to power-off and power-on your device. Also, it is a waiting game like Farmville. When you summon or upgrade monsters you have to wait for them, and the more powerful the monster, the longer the wait. This is partly the way games are these days, but also a way for the game designers to make some extra money. Tokens will speed the game along, but are not so plentiful that you can just throw them around... unless of course you buy some with actual money.

Currently the game is for the iPhone/iPod Touch, but can be played on the iPad as well. There is an Android version due out next month. Want to know a bit more? Check out the Buffstone Games Website.

Restart like "reboot" or start from scratch with no monster coins? To start from scratch I would assume you might have to create a new GameCenter ID, but not sure.
