Nerd Girl of Note #153; Chloë Sevigny

By pure accident I came across Hit & Miss on Netflix. This was a short-lived, six-episode show on Sky in the UK. Chloë Sevigny stars as "Mia", a pre-op transsexual, who is an assassin. She discovers that an old girlfriend had her child, and the girlfriend is dying. She goes to find the woman has left four children behind, and only Mia is there for them, whether they like it or not.

The show is rather daring, and if some of the comments on Tumblr are any indication, quite controversial.I am not too up on the lingo, so you will have to forgive me if my language is unknowingly insensitive. Some complain that there should have been an actual trans-woman in the role, rather than a female actress. Some complain about the nudity. Some say it does not go far enough... All of this, to me, indicates that at the very least, the show was taking a lot of chances. The show is less about her being an assassin, and more about dealing with her own sexuality in a rural setting; mixed with being a parent to children who do not want her, that she had never heard of before.

Personally, I think it is a rather clever show, and enjoyable to watch. I have not finished all six episodes, and must warn you that apparently it ends with a cliffhanger, but was never picked up for a second season. If you can't take this no-closure scenario, you might steer clear.
